We have been making paddles for several years, and have been involved with
the Pacific North West canoe racing community and they have been having
great success.

We offer our canoe paddles in three styles of handle. First is the s-bent or
dog-leg and we have the strait bent paddles both having ergonomically shaped
handles to give comfort and control and can be sized in lengths to suit
individual needs. We also make the traditional strait paddle. These have a
round handle cross section.

All the wood used to make these paddles comes from old first growth trees
that were cut down many years ago and left on the forest floor as they were
thought to not have any real marketable timber value. With our shrinking
forests and modern forest practices it has become profitable for companies
to find and recover this treasure from its hiding places. The age of this
wood and the length of time it has been on the ground allowed it to dry very
slowly making it very stable giving it exceptional strength (No growing
trees are felled in order to make our paddles). The range of the color and
grain found in this wood is spectacular due to its extreme age, and it
ranges in color from a light reedy brown to a rich chocolate that can be
almost black in the red cedar and from light yellow to a fawn color or light
brown in the yellow cedar We have found them to be an ideal source of top
quality material of superior strength and light weight durability.

Our kayak paddles are of the same materials as the canoe paddles are and
range in length of from 240cm. or 7’ 11’’ down to 210cm. or 6’ 11’’ and will
feather to the right or left at 30` or leave them strait.

We make our paddles in all yellow cedar or a combination of red cedar and
yellow cedar. The handles are made from ten laminations of vertical grain
wood; all glued together with superior West Systems Epoxy and have 4oz.fiber
glass cloth on the face and back of the blade.

The grip area is of an ergonomic cross section so as to give comfort and
reduce fatigue now you too can discover and enjoy the difference wood brings
to your paddling experience.

We have noticed over the years that a good many paddlers have more than one
style or type of paddle in there bag as do the pros. So be a leader when
buying your next paddle and buy your next paddle from Select Paddles and
discover the comfort and difference that these wooden paddles bring to your
paddling experience.
